  • In Waialua, farmers rescued two horses today after three days of flooding soaked their 40-acre farm - they used kayak and paddle board trips to feed and comfort the animals as neighbors helped with the efforts amid heavy rains.  Hawaii News Now

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Homes near Kailua Beach Park were inundated with sewage after heavy rain overwhelmed drainage systems — forcing emergency crews to prioritize urgent calls as residents began cleanup.  KITV
  • After a strong storm on Saturday, Honolulu residents dealt with widespread power outages, closed businesses, and heavy traffic as a hardware store in Hawaii Kai served customers on a propane generator. Crews inspected a berm at Nuuanu reservoir while a floating house was moved along Kalihi Stream.  Hawaii News Now
  • Heavy rain on Friday caused wastewater spills across Oahu. Storage tanks at Wahiawa reached capacity at 12:44 p.m., spilling into Lake Wilson while overflows at Kaneohe Tunnel and Kailua plants discharged wastewater into Kawa Stream and Nuupia Pond, and city crews are assessing the total release.  Hawaii News Now

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Rainbow Wahine ended their season with a 60-48 loss to UC San Diego in the Big West championship game on Saturday, March 14 at Lee’s Family Forum in Henderson. UC San Diego rallied late in the game after leading at halftime.  Honolulu Star-Advertiser
  • Hawaii’s Rainbow Warriors (NCAA) faced UCLA in a volleyball game on Saturday, Mar. 14 at Bankoh Arena Stan Sheriff Center, with UCLA winning in straight sets.  Honolulu Star-Advertiser
  • The Rainbows secured a win (71-64) over UC Irvine in today's Big West Tournament title game, earning their first NCAA berth since 2016. Coach Ganot and players celebrated the milestone as the team's NCAA destination will be revealed during Sunday's selection show.  Hawaii Tribune-Herald
