ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Officials closed Ala Moana Boulevard (from Hobron Lane to 1700 Ala Moana Boulevard) after a chemical odor was detected; Honolulu police are investigating and advise residents to avoid the area until the situation is resolved.  Hawaii News Now

  • Super Hawaiian Circus partnered with Make-A-Wish to host a performance featuring special audience members outside Windward Mall Target today, offering a unique event that blends community spirit + artistic expression.  Hawaii News Now

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Closures remain across Oahu today after Friday’s heavy rain saturated the ground, leading to ongoing road disruptions even though a flash flood warning has been lifted. Business owners report continued challenges from runoff caused by March's Kona low storms.  Hawaii News Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Otake Camp in Waialua was evacuated on Apr. 10 because of dangerous flash flooding, with emergency responders helping residents move to high ground (evacuation transportation was arranged for residents in Makaha-Nānākuli and the North Shore, including the Wahiawā Transit Center shelter).  Hawaii Free Press
  • The Hawai‘i Tourism Authority’s push to restore dedicated tourism funding stalled in the Senate amid legislative skepticism and repeated restructuring; tourism representatives attended Tourism Day at the Capitol on Friday with Jerry Gibson and Kekoa McClellan present.  Honolulu Star-Advertiser
  • The state Department of Transportation announced Saturday that one lane on Kamehameha Highway near Waimea Bay will remain closed for several months as it installs a permanent rockfall protection system after large boulders fell from a recent landslide.  Honolulu Star-Advertiser

  • Today, Hapalua Half Marathon begins at 6 a.m. in Waikiki at the Duke Kahanamoku Statue (the starting point) and continues on a 13.1-mile route finishing at Kapiolani Park while road closures affect nearby traffic.  KITV
