COMMUNITY NEWS

  • At Ko Olina, the Aloha in Action Benefit Concert raised roughly $1M for flood victims on April 23 from 5 to 10 p.m. Over 7,000 attendees enjoyed performances by local artists like Kolohe Kai & others as part of the relief effort.  KITV
  • Legendary coach Tony Dungy is set to serve as the keynote guest at the Hawaii Prayer breakfast in Honolulu & event details will be shared as the schedule is finalized.  KITV
  • Three well-known Honolulu landmarks will shine red (April 26 - May 3) to honor firefighters who died in the line of duty. The city pays tribute to its fallen heroes for residents and visitors to appreciate.  Hawaii News Now
  • On Friday, volunteers, churches and organizations in Wai‘anae helped 212 families + 37 dogs and 11 cats affected by recent flooding. The effort provided immediate support to those impacted in West O‘ahu.  KITV

  • Aloha Air Cargo has provided interisland freight service for more than 17 years by flying goods six days a week to Honolulu, Kahului, Lihue, Hilo and Kona—helping local businesses and supporting community organizations.  Hawaii Business

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The NIEER 2025 report shows the state's preschool quality earned top marks as 1,637 children were enrolled in state-funded programs during the 2024–2025 school year (an increase of 611 from last year).  Hawaii News Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Hawaii Supreme Court is reviewing a 30-year case over pesticide exposure in which banana worker Fernando Jimenez Arias (now deceased) claimed DBCP caused his infertility and his wife’s miscarriages. The court is deciding if circumstantial evidence meets the standard after companies’ appeal.  Hawaii Free Press

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Developers said more of the old Aloha Stadium was removed Thursday after a large section came down despite recent Kona-low storms. Additional seating and concourse walkways will be dismantled and removed by November to prepare for a new 31,000-seat stadium scheduled for spring 2029.  Hawaii Tribune-Herald

SPORTS NEWS

  • The University of Hawaii at Manoa water polo team lost 15-10 to Cal in the NCAA Quarterfinals Friday — ending their season as Cal extended its winning streak. Agatha Weston scored five goals and seven seniors played their final game after spending their entire college career with the team.  Hawaii News Now
  • The University of Hawaii men’s basketball team secured a written commitment from Bol Dengdit, a 6-foot-11, 210-pound player who played three years in Portland, to bolster its roster today.  Hawaii Tribune-Herald
  • Former Kapolei wide receiver De’Zhaun Stribling was selected 33rd overall by the San Francisco 49ers on Friday in the 2026 NFL Draft. The Ole Miss standout, who recorded six touchdowns and a 4.36-second 40-yard dash (his local ties set him apart), is the first player with Hawaii connections taken this year.  Hawaii News Now
