  • The historic Japan-America Institute of Management Science building in Hawaii Kai held its first open house Saturday as the public toured the 53-year-old, 35,000 sqft property (a cherished site).   • Today, over 400 volunteers sorted canned donations in support of the 34th Stamp Out Hunger Hawaiʻi drive as letter carriers collected items from blue bags dropped off at mailboxes to benefit local food banks. Organizers said every can contributed to reaching higher totals for food insecurity relief across the islands.  KITV

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Hawaii Academy of Recording Arts announced honorees for the 2026 Na Hoku Hanohano Awards, including posthumous Legacy Awards for Abigail Laau and DJ Pratt. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Sixteen high school seniors from local schools were celebrated last Friday during the second annual FIRST Robotics College Signing Day as they announced the colleges they will attend for STEM studies.   • On Tuesday, a Hawaiian monk seal pup born May 3 relaxed with its mother Kaiwi at Kaimana Beach in Waikiki while onlookers viewed the pair from behind protective netting installed to safeguard both seals + visitors.  Honolulu Star-Advertiser

  • Honolulu Hale and the Neal S.
