ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A motorcyclist (40) was found unresponsive after losing control on H1 westbound on Saturday, May 10 at (4:45 a.m.) and paramedics rushed him to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.  KITV
  • A man died after being pulled from the water around Kalaeloa on May 10—authorities are still investigating the incident.  Hawaii News Now
  • On May 10th, a multi-vehicle crash near the Kaonohi Street overpass on the freeway’s westbound lanes sent a woman to hospital in critical condition—officials reported she sustained severe injuries—with the crash occurring around 8:50 a.m.  Hawaii News Now
  • A garbage truck struck several cars in Kaimuki during a morning trash pickup—damaging the vehicles.  KITV

CRIME NEWS

  • A dead woman's body was found in low-lying canal waters in Kalihi at 2 a.m. on May 9 and was removed by the Honolulu Fire Department—law enforcement reported no signs of foul play while investigating the unattended death.  KITV

  • American Idol winner Iam Tongi and the Kamehameha Schools Children's Chorus teamed up to create a new version of 'Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride' for a live-action Lilo & Stitch project—scattered windward and mauka showers continue today and will remain through next week.  Hawaii News Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Green and Attorney General Lopez announced on May 9th that Hawaiʻi secured a $700M settlement with Bristol-Myers Squibb and Sanofi over a 12-year lawsuit—one that addressed mislabeling of blood thinners. The companies will wire funds by June 9 to bolster health care services — ending lengthy litigation.  Hawaii Free Press
  • On May 9th, the Board of Land and Natural Resources voted not to accept the Army’s Final Environmental Impact Statement for Pōhakuloa Training Area—citing incomplete data on archaeological sites, endangered species, and cultural consultations—and has not yet decided on the Army’s long-term lease for 23,000 acres which expires in 2029.  Hawaii Free Press
