- ➤ Ko Olina Children’s Festival raised $60,000 for Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children at its ninth annual event at Ulua Lagoon, where hundreds of keiki enjoyed games & food and a screening of Moana 2. KITV
- ➤ Mail carriers gathered food donations this past weekend for the 33rd Stamp Out Hunger drive—helping the Hawaii Foodbank deliver critical supplies to residents facing food insecurity. Nearly 300 volunteers joined to unload and sort the donated items as the drive aimed to collect one million pounds of food. KITV
- ➤ Waianae High School junior Noa “Bubba” Puʻu earned the Duke Lifesaver Award on Wednesday night—continuing his family legacy as the son of lifeguard and waterman Mel Puʻu and grandson of renowned surfer Buffalo Keaulana. Honolulu Star-Advertiser

- ➤ Kaimuki Middle School’s drone teams swept all five major awards at the West Regional Aerial Drone Tournament in San Jose and finished the season ranked as the top middle school team in the world + the coaches plan to expand the program with annual robotics workshops. Hawaii News Now

- ➤ Kilauea’s 21st eruption began Sunday afternoon, May 11th when lava fountains reached 125 to 150 feet from the north vent, and lava flows spread across Halema’uma’u crater after nearly five hours of low-level gas-pistoning events — USGS officials reported the activity followed earlier dome fountaining and vigorous drain backs. - ➤ Nearly 460 volunteers removed about 30 tons of trash from sites across Oahu during Earth Month. The Department of Facility Maintenance Storm Water Quality Division organized the cleanups to protect the island's environment. Honolulu Star-Advertiser

- ➤ The Hawaii Nurses’ Association remains at an impasse with Queen’s Medical Center after the hospital filed an appeal with the National Labor Relations Board—nurses continue to be locked out of Kapi‘olani Medical Center.
