  • Honolulu firefighters rescued a woman from her home in Kalihi Valley on Friday morning as crews closed Kalihi Street at Ukiuki Place to battle flames following a 911 call at 10:27 a.m.—the fire was extinguished at 11:50 a.m. and its cause remains under investigation.  Hawaii News Now

  • Nathaniel Radimak, 38, accused of attacking two women in Kakaako and a woman and her mother on Halekauwila Street, is still in the hospital after being beaten by inmates at Halawa Correctional Facility—his lawyer said he missed a court appearance on Thursday and his release date is unknown.  Hawaii News Now

  • Honolulu residents learn that a hurricane watch means storm conditions may start in 48 hours while a hurricane warning signals strong winds arriving in 36 hours—officials advise preparing emergency plans early to stay safe during tropical storms as well.  KITV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • U.S. Sen. Mazie Hirono and Sen. Dan Sullivan reintroduced bipartisan legislation to increase funding for the USDA Reimbursement Transportation Cost Payment program that helps geographically disadvantaged farmers in Hawaii and Alaska. If approved, the bill will raise mandatory funding by $1 million each fiscal year until reaching $15 million in 2031—removing the current cap.  Hawaii News Now
