  • The National Park Service is hosting free tributes, tours, and ceremonies at Pearl Harbor National Memorial over Memorial Day Weekend to honor fallen service members. Next month, Hawaii's Finest will launch a summer expo at the Hawaii Convention Center featuring vendors, food, and live music — and a Hawaii Department of Health report shows 108 whooping cough cases this year compared to 84 last year.  Hawaii News Now
  • Over one thousand scouts will gather on May 25 at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl to pay tribute to fallen service members with flags and lei—upholding their Memorial Day Good Turn tradition before the 74th Annual Mayor’s Memorial Day Ceremony. The event will feature remarks by Col. Rachel Sullivan and music by the 25th Infantry Division Band while the community is invited to contribute handmade lei.  KITV
  • The 16th Ka‘u Coffee Festival begins Sunday, May 25 and runs through May 31 in Ka‘u—featuring events such as a coffee recipe contest, an open house at Pahala Plantation House, a mountain hike with lunch, a Cowboy up coffee day, star gazing, and a ho‘olaule‘a celebration.   • The Honolulu Police Department arrested four teens from Leilehua High School for their alleged involvement in a mobbing of a 21-year-old special needs woman in Wahiawa in April—her family discovered the assault weeks later when a video went viral on May 21, sparking intense community outrage.  KITV
