  • Ke Kauhale 'o Luhia opened in Waimanalo today, adding 20 new tiny homes to the 31-unit village on Saddle City Road as part of the state’s kauhale initiative to cut homelessness. Construction cost about $1.6 million under budget + leaders say the project may ease costs and boost housing stability statewide.  Hawaii News Now

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • The U.S. Coast Guard ended its search for 61-year-old fisherman Joseph (Chips) Correia III, who went missing off Waianae Coast on Wednesday, May 21 after his partially sunken boat was found Sunday morning.  KITV

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Amazon proposed a large fulfillment center in Campbell Industrial Park during a recent board meeting, which the company said will create over 1,000 full-time jobs and several hundred construction jobs.   • University of Hawaii launches the Next Step Scholarship to aid college transfers; full time students at UH Hilo, UH Manoa, UH Maui College and UH West Oahu will receive 2,000 dollars and part time students get 1,000 dollars for fall 2026 after earning an associate degree during 2025 to 26.  Hawaii News Now
