  • A Kauai-based nonprofit and a Hana nonprofit have received grants from Newman’s Own Foundation to help Hawaiian youth connect to local food traditions and regenerative farming practices—efforts that support indigenous food justice amid uncertain federal funding.  Honolulu Star-Advertiser

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A 37-year-old man was hospitalized after suffering dehydration while hiking in the Kailua area on Sunday afternoon; EMS & HFD arrived at Luana Hills Road at about 3:27 p.m.  KITV
  • Three people were hospitalized in serious condition after a three-vehicle crash occurred in Ka’aawa Sunday afternoon — Emergency Medical Services responded around 3:01 p.m., treating a 25-year-old man, a 21-year-old man, and a 56-year-old woman while a man in his 40s was evaluated but declined transport.  KITV

CRIME NEWS

  • Honolulu Police arrested four men in connection with a Makaha shooting on Wednesday night at a home on Lahaina Street that killed a 19-year-old man and wounded four others, with three males (aged 17, 20 and 21) arrested in Waianae on Saturday and another 19-year-old suspect turning himself in at Kapolei.  Hawaii News Now

  • Emalia Dalire was crowned Miss Hawaii 2025 and held her first media interview on Saturday night at Hawaii Theatre where she thanked the organization and shared her plans to begin community service early Sunday — after beating 12 other delegates as Miss Kaneohe. She now assumes the role as the 80th Miss Hawaii and looks forward to fulfilling her responsibilities for the state.  Honolulu Star-Advertiser

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Hawaii changed its car tint rules for the first time since 1983 when Governor Green signed House Bill 226 on Thursday; the law lets sedans have darker rear tint like trucks and SUVs—DOT will have 90 days to adopt uniform rules and fines will increase for illegal tint.  Hawaii News Now
  • Hawaii’s congressional delegation is pressing the Navy for more details on a proposal to more than double bombing runs at Kaula—a small island that serves as a nesting ground for 18 bird species including the black-footed albatross. State officials and conservation groups have raised concerns that the plan could harm a key bird sanctuary.  Honolulu Star-Advertiser
