  • BoxJelly—one of Honolulu’s first co-working space companies—filed public documents yesterday to renovate a space near the Hawaii Theatre Center in Chinatown, a project estimated to cost about $1 million. The company, which started in 2011, already runs a location in Ward Village off Ala Moana Boulevard.  KITV

  • Soldier Dewayne Johnson II was sentenced to 23 years in prison for killing his pregnant wife Mischa at their Schofield home—domestic violence experts say the punishment is too light given the severity of the crime.  Hawaii News Now

  • The Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement celebrated its first graduates for its Production Technical Arts program today in Honolulu (marking a significant milestone for local talent).   • Gov. Green announced he will veto 19 bills from the 2025 Legislature session to ensure only well-reviewed measures become law. He will finish his review and issue final vetoes by July 9 as lawmakers and communities await decisions that impact state spending—steps taken after passing 320 bills.  KITV

SPORTS NEWS

  • Hundreds of Special Olympics Hawaii athletes began their 55th Annual State Summer Games yesterday with a parade at UH’s Led Murakami Stadium and will compete in multiple sports through Sunday on Oahu—raising funds with events like the First Hawaiian Bank Troy Barboza Law Enforcement Torch Run. The games honor the athletes' spirit and offer them a chance to showcase their skills in events planned across the weekend.  KITV
  • On March 25, Kahuku High and Intermediate School’s girls flag football players and parents said the athletic director forced them to change uniforms on the field quickly or face fines—causing confusion and discomfort. The school and Department of Education updated procedures for away games immediately after the incident so players now have safe changing spaces.  Hawaii News Now
