- ➤ London Opendack, 29, was arrested in Waikiki after allegedly striking his parents with a hammer during an argument on June 8 and made his initial court appearance on Thursday, and he faces charges of attempted murder in the first and second degree with bail set at $1,000,000—his preliminary hearing will be held on June 16. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The 48th annual Prince Lot Hula Festival will be held July 19—20 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Frank F. Fasi Civic Grounds in Honolulu and will offer hula, hands-on activities, cultural demonstrations, food vendors, workshops and live entertainment for all ages. Organizers say the festival honors Prince Lot Kapuaiwa's legacy in reviving Native Hawaiian practices and is expected to draw over 17,000 people. Hawaii News Now
- ➤ Pa’u riders are busy making flower leis for the 108th King Kamehameha Celebration Floral Parade, which will take place Saturday to honor Hawaiian tradition—using many roses and carnations to show heritage. Today at 2:30 p.m. a lei draping ceremony will be held in front of the King Kamehameha Statue before the parade begins at Iolani Palace and moves along Punchbowl Street to end at Kapi’olani Park.
