Nanakuli High School students organized a food distribution event that provided free food to over 600 families on the Waianae coast this weekend (supporting those impacted by COVID) in partnership with Elepaio Social Services; State Senator Samantha Decorte said the event sold out within a day. Officials announced that another food distribution event will be scheduled soon (date to be determined) to continue supporting families in need.

A 30-year-old (Boston man) fell 30 feet from a steep cliff on Wednesday night at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park after venturing off the Byron Ledge Trail to view the Kilauea eruption; first responders rescued him by rappelling down the cliff and hoisting him to safety, and he sustained minor facial injuries.

Police arrested a 34-year-old man who allegedly lunged at a 29-year-old woman with a knife in front of Honolulu District Court on June 13—she fled uninjured and he remains in custody for first-degree terroristic threatening.
