  • Diamond Head Theatre will stage Spongebob The Musical from Bikini Bottom from July 18 to August 3. The show follows SpongeBob and his friends as they fight to save their home from a volcanic eruption—adapted from Nickelodeon’s animated series.  KITV

  • Decorated Army veteran Sae Joon Park left Hawaii Monday to start over in South Korea after ICE ended his deferred action, forcing him to self-deport after 48 years in the U.S.—he said he left his family behind while his attorney challenged the immigration policy that many believe fails to support veterans.  Hawaii News Now

HEALTH NEWS

  • A new UH study found that adults who followed the MIND diet had a 12%-13% lower chance of developing dementia compared to those with low adherence—benefiting Latinos, Whites and African Americans, while showing a weaker trend for Asian Americans and Native Hawaiians. The research analyzed data from nearly 93,000 U.S. adults over ten years and was presented at the American Society for Nutrition conference.  Hawaii News Now
  • Scientists said that three striped dolphins stranded along Oahu’s east shore over a seven-day period tested positive for Brucella Ceti — a bacterial infection that can spread to people.  Hawaii News Now

SPORTS NEWS

  • Les Murakami, a longtime UH baseball coach who won 1,079 games, was named to the College Baseball Hall of Fame as the College Baseball Foundation announced Monday. His induction ceremony will be held in February in Overland Park, Kansas — where he will join former star player Derek Tatsuno as the only UH member in the Hall — marking an honor for his leadership that led UH to its only College World Series appearance.  Hawaii News Now
