- ➤ Honolulu police are searching for two men in ski masks who robbed a 17-year-old boy at gunpoint and fired at his friend in Makakilo District Park shortly after midnight today—no injuries were reported. Honolulu Star-Advertiser
- ➤ Honolulu police warned residents today about scam letters that accuse recipients of drug crimes and demand $2,000 to avoid jail time—officials stress that paying the fee will not prevent any legal issues. Hawaii News Now

- ➤ On Wednesday, a video sent by Scott Hansen showed a dust devil forming near Kilauea as lava fountains reached 1,200 feet during the eruption at Halemaumau — scientists warn that vog, ash, tephra and Pele’s hair may affect areas west and southwest of the summit. Hawaii News Now
- ➤ A new eruption began at Halema‘uma‘u Crater in Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park on July 9th at 4:10 a.m. Scientists said lava fountains from the north vent reached about 100 feet & experts warned that volcanic gas, Pele’s hair & ash may affect nearby communities. KITV

- ➤ A demolition crew began tearing down a long-abandoned apartment building on Ala Wai Boulevard yesterday to clear a site for a new affordable housing project. - ➤ Governor Green signed new laws on July 8th that create a $4B settlement trust fund for Maui wildfires survivors and speed up claim payments.
