- ➤ On Friday, an electric scooter fire at a multi-unit building in Kalihi burned a woman, and the Honolulu Fire Department warned residents to handle lithium-ion batteries with care—warning of similar hazards in the future. Hawaii News Now
- ➤ On Friday, the Honolulu Fire Department received a 911 call for a building fire at 1516 Haka Drive in Kalihi — first responders arrived at 6:25 p.m. and found light exterior smoke, an extinguished electric scooter fire, and a woman with burns who received basic life support before being transferred — with no injuries to firefighters. - ➤ Fatal traffic deaths on Oahu have risen to 43 this year from 19 last year, as lawmakers urge safer driving after a 41-year-old moped rider was fatally hit by an alleged drunk driver in Waimanalo — a 37-year-old driver also died in a speeding crash in Ewa Beach. Hawaii News Now
- ➤ A 37-year-old man died and three others were injured in a rollover crash in Ewa just before dawn today when paramedics arrived at 5:40 a.m.—EMS reported that a 72-year-old man and two teen boys with multiple injuries were taken to hospitals. Honolulu Star-Advertiser

- ➤ The Honolulu Police Department is searching for Dante Miller (51) who is considered armed and dangerous after he allegedly shot a 22-year-old man in Kalihi on July 7 shortly before 9 p.m. and left his victim in serious condition, with Miller described as bald, 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighing about 245 pounds with multiple tattoos on his face, neck, chest, arms and hands. - ➤ Forty-two additional beds are now available at the transitional shelter Kumu Ola Hou in Iwilei Center to help working men achieve housing independence through a 90 day program led by the Institute for Human Services — the expansion builds on an earlier phase that welcomed its first cohort on June 12 and fits into the City’s broader redevelopment plan. - ➤ Honolulu Fire Department Chief Hao discussed on the One O‘ahu Podcast how the Māʻili wildfire began on July 6 near 87-253 Pa‘akea Road and was contained by 29 units by 1:24 a.m. on July 7 — a blaze that claimed the life of a 94-year-old woman — while urging residents to call 911 if they see a fire and follow emergency instructions to protect their ‘ohana. - ➤ A Honolulu Fire Department rescue boat answered a 911 call at 3:54 p.m. after a 28-foot sailboat & three people onboard became adrift off Waikiki due to steering issues, and it safely towed the vessel to Ala Wai Boat Harbor at 4:45 p.m. after the boaters fixed the steering while under tow.
