ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • The Honolulu Fire Department battled a two-alarm fire that burned three abandoned residential buildings on Kaniau Place in Waipahu — crews managed to control the blaze.  Hawaii News Now
  • On Wednesday, the Honolulu Fire Department battled a two-alarm blaze on Kaniau Place in Waipahu that burned three abandoned residential structures, arriving around 4:30 p.m.—bringing the fire under control by 4:51 p.m. and extinguishing it by 6:18 p.m.—while investigators looked into the cause and confirmed no one was inside.  Hawaii News Now

CRIME NEWS

  • A second suspect was arrested Tuesday in connection to a July 4 shooting at Maili Beach Park — the incident injured a 22-year-old man.  KITV

  • The East Hawaii Cultural Center opens today at 6 p.m. its 'Displacement. Art of Surviving' exhibit that runs through Sept. 26 and features works by Willie Baronet, who engages with homeless individuals for his Signs of Humanity project, and Franciszek Orłowski, who creates art based on personal exchanges with the unhoused — the exhibit also displays photographs from Pu‘uhonua O Wai‘anae, a local sanctuary community.  Hawaii Tribune-Herald

  • The University of Hawaii football team is working to improve its offensive line in fall training camp as head coach Timmy Chang said he is pleased with the progress the players show.
