- ➤ Honolulu police, fire, and paramedics responded to a multi-vehicle crash near Daniel K. Inouye International Airport on Friday, August 8 that ended in flames and closed the H-1 freeway eastbound lanes—five vehicles were involved with two catching fire—and drivers were redirected to Nimitz Highway. - ➤ A 19-year-old surfer was hospitalized in serious condition at China Walls after he hit his head around 11 a.m. Thursday, according to Honolulu EMS. KITV

- ➤ Evacuation orders were given when a wildfire started in Hamakua on Friday, closing Highway 19 from mile marker 36 to 39 + residents near Kalopa Road makai were told to leave while firefighters worked to stop the blaze and Paʻauilo Gym remained open as a shelter. KITV
