- ➤ Thousands of locals lined up Friday at the Hawaii Convention Center for the Made in Hawaii Festival—over 700 local vendors showcased wares including nearly 100 new products while some waited over two hours to shop. - ➤ Honolulu Fire crews rescued a 19 year old man from the Moanalua Middle Ridge Trail on Thursday night after he could not come down from a six-hour hike—rescuers airlifted him by helicopter just before 8 p.m. and EMS said he had dehydration and bad leg cramps and was taken to hospital in serious condition. - ➤ The Honolulu Fire Department battled a brush fire at Kunia Loa Ridge Farmlands around 12:15 p.m. Friday—13 units including Air 1 made water drops as smoke was seen from Waipio Costco. Hawaii News Now

- ➤ OceanFest kicked off in Waikiki when the opening ceremony started at 5 p.m. at the Duke Kahanamoku statue—draped in fresh lei—and the Outrigger Duke Kahanamoku Foundation revealed a new specialty license plate design on Friday honoring the legendary waterman. The weeklong event that began on Aug. 15 features surfing, swimming, outrigger canoeing, paddleboard racing and even dog surfing with local, national and international competitors. Hawaii News Now

- ➤ More than 100 unionized health care workers picketed at Kaiser Moanalua Medical Center on Oahu and Kaiser Lahaina Clinic on Maui this evening to call for better wages, safe staffing, and fair benefits. Local union talks began in April while national negotiations started in May, with the contract for over 60,000 workers set to expire on September 30 + raising concerns on wage gaps in Hawaii.
