- ➤ Twenty years ago, Hawaii established the MAILE AMBER Alert system in memory of 6-year-old Maile Gilbert, whose tragic abduction and murder 40 years ago led to its creation. - ➤ The city is seeking a developer to build at least 150 affordable housing units near the future Mokauea rail station in Kalihi—after acquiring the old Dee Lite Bakery on Dillingham Boulevard and an adjacent parcel of about 2.25 acres. The chosen developer will receive a 75-year ground lease, may apply for city funding, and must conduct community meetings as proposals are due on October 10 with an info session on September 5.
