- ➤ Thousands gathered in downtown Honolulu today for the 'No Kings' protest as residents voiced concerns over government policies and defended their First Amendment rights. - ➤ The USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory reported that Kilauea's Halemaʻu crater erupted with record-high lava fountains last Friday—north vent fountains reached 500 feet at 8:05 p.m. and both vents surpassed 1,000 feet by 9:30 p.m., with the south vent nearing 1,500 feet by 10 p.m. KITV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Teapresso Bar LLC received a cease and desist order from the state on Oct. 14 for selling 26 unregistered franchises between Dec. 2016 and July 2021 without offering required disclosures—forcing the company to stop franchise sales and pay a $100,000 penalty within 30 days. KITV
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ On Oct. 18, the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors defeated Colorado State 31—19 at Canvas Stadium, with quarterback Micah Alejado throwing for 301 yards and three touchdowns and kicker Kansei Matsuzawa setting a school record with his 21st field goal. - ➤ Freshman Cha’lei Reid scored a match-high 18 kills as Rainbow Wahine volleyball snapped a four-match losing streak with a 25-19, 25-19, 25-21 win over UC San Diego today at LionTree Arena—showing strong team play with few errors.
