- ➤ The Honolulu Ocean Safety Department will hire part-time on-call beach lifeguards. Applicants must register at Ala Moana Beach Park Ocean Safety Training Center on Nov 14-15 from 8 to 10 a.m. and pass a physical exam on Nov 21 or Nov 22 with interviews on Nov 25 (the exam tests running, swimming and board paddling). - ➤ Hawaii earned an F for home affordability as high prices and few new-home permits squeeze the market. Gov. Green declared a state emergency — signed House Bill 420 to cut repair delays — and his measures aim to increase affordable housing supply. Hawaii Free Press
- ➤ Today, Governor Josh Green announced the Hawaiʻi Relief Program to help needy families with children apply for rent and utility assistance as federal SNAP benefits will be suspended on Saturday—this will include $100 million in federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families funding and $2 million for the Hawaii Food Bank to support low-income households amid the shutdown.
