- ➤ Giving Hope Hawaii will provide 400 Thanksgiving turkeys and other food items in a drive-thru event at Windward Dodge, Chrysler Jeep Ram on Kahuhipa Street in Kaneohe on Nov. 22 between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. — the food pantry aims to support families facing food insecurity following the recent government shutdown. - ➤ On November 3, Shidler College of Business at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa held its annual Scholarship Luncheon at The Royal Hawaiian Hotel and awarded over $1.2 million in scholarships to more than 300 students. - ➤ A federal court paused a planned shutdown by the U.S. Department of Labor so Hawaii Job Corps centers in Waimanalo and Makawao remain open and are now recruiting students. The federally funded program provides free technical training, housing, and meals for young people from low-income families and will help them join stable careers—offering a reliable path to job success. - ➤ A box jellyfish advisory was issued on south-facing Oahu beaches — including Waikiki and Ala Moana — after lifeguards spotted these jellyfish around 9:45 a.m. today. Lifeguards posted warning signs and advised beachgoers to check with them for updates and call 911 in an emergency. Honolulu Star-Advertiser
- ➤ Agriculture inspectors captured a live skunk at Honolulu Harbor on November 13 after dockworkers reported it trapped in one of four baited traps—officials euthanized the animal and will test it for rabies. The skunk, an invasive species, was first spotted by U.S. Customs and Border Protection on Tuesday. KITV
- ➤ On Thursday, U.S. Customs and Border Protection staff spotted a live skunk near Pier 1 at Honolulu Harbor and inspectors set four traps with cat food. Dockworkers later reported the skunk was caught — officials said it was humanely euthanized for a rabies test. Honolulu Star-Advertiser

- ➤ Kapiolani Boulevard will close for nearly a year as city crews work on a double box culvert near Isenberg Street. Work begins December 1 and crews will replace the top slab, repair cracks, relocate utilities, install new railings and improve traffic signals while pausing work from December 22 to January 2. KITV
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Hawaiian Humane Society said feline panleukopenia infected more than a dozen cats and kittens (including two that died) at both of its campuses over the past two weeks. Officials quarantined cat holding rooms and offered reduced adoption fees for medically cleared cats (a precaution while vaccinations take time to protect the animals). Hawaii News Now

- ➤ Olympic gold medalist Carissa Moore will rejoin the world tour in 2026 after giving birth earlier this year—she said her return will let her compete with top stars like Australia’s world champion Molly Picklum and show her daughter that women can chase their dreams. Honolulu Star-Advertiser
- ➤ The Ala Wai Golf Course Driving Range will reopen today after a ten-month closure that began on Jan. 31 for safety and accessibility renovations—new turf, irrigation repairs, hitting mats, stall dividers and range balls have been added and the facility will operate daily from 6:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Hawaii News Now
- ➤ Kealii Ah Yat from Kaneohe now leads Montana’s 10-0 football team as the starting quarterback, averaging over 250 passing yards per game—he replaced limited play in his first two seasons and is carrying on a family legacy started by his father Brian, a former star inducted into the Grizzly Sports Hall of Fame.
