- ➤ The Honolulu Department of Accounting and General Services invites residents to help paint a community mural on the basement wall of the DAGS parking garage at the Kalanimoku Building on Punchbowl Street on Saturday, Nov. 29, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Artist Solomon Enos designed an abstract pattern resembling a fishing net and will be on hand to answer questions (artistic experience is not required). - ➤ Twenty-three years ago, Sandra Pascal started a Thanksgiving tradition at the Waimanalo Seventh-day Adventist Church — a yearly event where volunteers cook meals and serve the homeless with music and cards made by Ka Lama Iki School students — last year, they fed 325 people and plan a similar effort this Thanksgiving. - ➤ Children 12 and younger can enter Star-Advertiser’s Keiki Kalikimaka contest by submitting hand-drawn art by Dec. 1 for a chance to win cash prizes of $150, $100 or $50. - ➤ At about 1:45 p.m. Sunday, rescuers pulled a woman in her 40s from roughly 50 yards off Kakaako Waterfront Park near the surf break 'Files'—she received CPR from lifeguards before EMS transported her to hospital in critical condition. Hawaii News Now

- ➤ Hawaiian Electric will replace underground cables in Waikiki and Ala Moana, causing lane closures and contra-flow traffic on Hobron, Kaioo Drive, Ena Road, and Hobron Lane from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. today through Wednesday—special duty police and flagmen will direct drivers around the work zones. - ➤ The Hawaiʻi State Legislature announced on November 20 that it awarded nearly $50 million in Act 310 funds to 95 local nonprofits to help counter federal funding cuts—The Department of Labor and Industrial Relations’ Office of Community Services worked with Aloha United Way to manage the grants for essential community services.
