  • Alexander & Baldwin announced a definitive merger agreement for a $2.3 billion take-private deal, with shareholders set to receive $21.20 per share at a 40% premium. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2026, and the company will retain its Honolulu headquarters.  Hawaii Free Press

  • The festive ice rink event ’Twas the Light Before Christmas on Ice runs throughout December, featuring Wine Wednesday specials, character skate nights, vendor pop-ups, and kids’ storytelling sessions.   • A federal judge allowed Honolulu’s Board of Water Supply to pursue negligence, nuisance, and trespass claims for decades of Navy fuel contamination from the Red Hill facility, though a dispute over its Superfund status remains. HEALTH NEWS

  • A recall has been issued for macadamia nuts sold at Costco Hawaii Kai due to potential salmonella contamination. Customers who purchased 20-ounce bags (lot code 307HMNC25L3) between Nov. 29 and Dec. 4 should return them at Costco for a refund, per American Nuts LLC.  Honolulu Star-Advertiser
