- ➤ Hawaiian Humane Society is waiving adoption fees until Dec. 31 in its Home for the Holidays special at its Moiliili and Kosasa Family Campuses. The fee waiver helps over 700 animals adjust before New Year's Eve fireworks. Hawaii News Now
- ➤ Nationals catcher Caleb Lomavita, an Ewa native, is organizing a Christmas collection drive where participants can drop off toys at St. Louis School from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Sunday. Hawaii News Now

- ➤ On Thursday at 10:30 a.m., Honolulu Ocean Safety rescued a pregnant woman struggling at China Walls and secured her with a rescue tube until jet ski operators arrived to transfer her to the Hawaii Kai boat ramp, where she declined further help. Hawaii News Now

- ➤ Traffic is expected to be heavy today near H-1 Freeway and in the Manoa area as UH Manoa holds its commencement from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the Stan Sheriff Center, where over 1,000 students will receive degrees before meet & greet events at nearby venues. Hawaii News Now

- ➤ Campbell Sabers won their first Open Division State Championship with a 26-23 overtime victory against Kamehameha Kapalama and Mayor Rick Blangiardi proclaimed Dec. 19 as Campbell Championship Day in Ewa Beach. Hawaii News Now
- ➤ The University of Hawaii women’s volleyball team added two transfers — Maeli Cormier from Oregon State and Panna Ratkai from Dayton — to its 2026 roster. Both will enroll in the spring semester, bringing international and collegiate experience to the team. Honolulu Star-Advertiser
