ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A 91-year-old driver was struck in a hit-and-run incident when he turned left from Hakimo Road onto Paakea Road—he now remains in serious condition.  Hawaii News Now
  • A rollover crash on the H-1 eastbound in Kaimuki around 6:45 p.m. Friday left a 55-year-old man in serious condition after being taken to hospital while a 69-year-old man from the second vehicle refused transport—officials said the incident involved two vehicles—and the cause is unknown.  Hawaii News Now

CRIME NEWS

  • Honolulu police are seeking help to locate 61-year-old Fernando Agpaoa, last seen Tuesday, July 29 at about 7 p.m. along a canal near Keehi Lagoon by Kahauiki Village off Nimitz Highway—he is described as 5 feet 3 inches tall, 130 lbs with grey hair and brown eyes and may be wearing a black t-shirt and blue jean shorts.  Hawaii News Now
  • Hawaii Island Police are searching for missing Hilo resident Vernamae Stevens (60), who was last seen at 8 a.m. on July 12 in Hilo and is considered endangered because she may need medical help.  Hawaii News Now
  • Honolulu police say 44-year-old Patrick Nowicke faces life in prison on federal drug + firearm charges after officers seized over 10 pounds of meth, guns, ammunition, a smoke grenade, and a silencer from his Wahiawa home.  Hawaii News Now

  • Honolulu-born Jason Momoa created and stars in Chief of War — a new series that retells 18th century Hawaiian conflicts with dramatic visuals and Hawaiian language — which will premiere Friday on Apple TV+.  Honolulu Star-Advertiser

  • A Tuesday tsunami warning confirmed a University of Hawaii study from 2022 that showed evacuating Waikiki by car is risky due to gridlocked traffic—vertical evacuation in high-rise buildings offers a safer path with evacuees reaching safety in 22 minutes. City officials plan to update their messaging so residents know to stay in safe buildings during future warnings.  Hawaii News Now
  • Former Honolulu Police Chief Joe Logan sued the City and County and Mayor Rick Blangiardi on Thursday—he alleged that threats forced him to resign after he refused to follow actions he said broke federal law.
